The overzealous reporter has made some statements that are inappropriate and I am embarrassed as well as very disappointed. Since joining the State Department not only have I come across very talented and dedicated FSOs but have become very close friends with quite a number of FSOs.

I hope you accept my apology and most sincere regret. I cannot bottle up what has happened except to express my regrets and apology.
