Schools at a Glance: Introduction

Welcome to Schools at a Glance. The purpose of this site is to offer a resource to aid members and their children in evaluating different boarding schools. Please note that this site is not a complete guide to boarding schools, but rather a starting point for your research.

The site features over 35 boarding schools, and provides a summary of relevant facts about each school and a link to the school's own web site. Also featured is "School Scope," an activity developed to encourage the student's participation in the search for a school.

Perhaps the most important word of advice is: Plan Ahead! If there is a chance that you will excercise the boarding school option at a future posting, begin your research early.

You may not want to apply before you have to -- when a hardship posting, for instance, is finalized -- but an early phone call to the admissions office or an e-mail explaining your situation can ensure that you don't find yourself in a tight spot later.
