AFSA Book Notes: "Foreign Policy Breakthroughs: Cases in Successful Diplomacy"

Start Date/Time:
Thursday, February 18, 2016 - 12:00
End Date/Time:
Thursday, February 18, 2016 - 13:30
Description:

AFSA will kick off its Book Notes series in 2016 with a discussion of Foreign Policy Breakthroughs: Cases in Successful Diplomacy, edited by Robert Hutchings and Dr. Jeremi Suri. Ambassador Hutchings will be on hand to discuss the book. Drawing on deep historical research, this book aims to 'reinvent' diplomacy for our current era. The research provides a foundation for thinking about what successful outreach, negotiation, and relationship-building with foreign actors should look like. Instead of focusing only on failures, as most studies do, this one interrogates success. Ambassador Barbara Bodine will moderate the discussion. Please join us on February 18 at 2:00 p.m.; the event takes place at AFSA headquarters, 2101 E Street NW. Click here to RSVP.
