This talk will cover Brexit and the European Union and how NATO is the cornerstone of the UK's defense. Brigadier General James Carr-Smith is the Military Attache and Head of the British Army Staff in the U.S. On commissioning from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 1988, Carr-Smith joined an armored regiment. His early years were spent in a variety of regimental and staff appointments in Germany, Northern Ireland, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Poland. He has commanded an Armoured Squadron and an Armoured Regiment. His tenure as Commanding Officer included an out-of-role operational tour in Afghanistan. And as a Brigadier General he was the inaugural Deputy Commander of 1st (UK) Division where he led on Defence Engagement, Capability Development and Interoperability during its transition from the armored to light role.
