DACOR: The Change We Seek: The Evolving Role of U.S. NGOs in a Shifting Aid Landscape

Start Date/Time:
Monday, August 1, 2016 - 07:00
End Date/Time:
Monday, August 1, 2016 - 09:00
Description:

The world's nations have successfully adopted a universal framework that will shape human well-being through 2030. But as nations work to provide emergency aid for their citizens as well as create more peaceful, prosperous and resilient communities, new global agreements do not provide a clear role for international actors and resources. So we ask ourselves as U.S. NGOs-what is the change we seek and how do we adapt ourselves to achieve our goals? How do we work in fragile and often violent environments? How do U.S. NGOs partner with USAID and bilateral donors, multilateral and UN agencies, foundations and private donors, and local civil society? This talk will focus on ways U.S. NGOs are evolving and adapting to have the greatest impact in years to come. Mr. Sam Worthington is CEO of InterAction, the nation's largest U.S. alliance of international nongovernmental organizations. He sits on the Inter-Agency Standing Committee at the UN, the Van Leer Group Foundation board, The Center for Disaster Philanthropy board and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. This event costs $5. This event is co-hosted by DACOR and UAA.
