Duane Evans' most recent book - a 2017 INDIES Book of the Year finalist - is based on his experiences as a field team leader in the CIA's early efforts in southern Afghanistan following the 9/11 attacks. His talk will include a discussion of the immediate organizational and personnel challenges faced by CIA headquarters as it quickly assumed a central role in the U.S. response to the attacks. Mr. Evans is a former CIA officer with field tours which included serving as Chief of Station, CIA's most senior field position. He is the recipient of the Intelligence Star for valor and the Career Intelligence Medal. Prior to joining the Agency he was a U.S. Army Special Forces and Military Intelligence officer. He is also the author of the novel North from Calcutta. This event costs $25 and includes lunch.
