Description:

Shortly after earning a degree in agricultural science from Rutgers University in 1955, Mr. Brown spent six months living in rural India where he became intimately familiar with the food/population issue. In 1959 he joined the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Foreign Agricultural Service as an international analyst. In 1974, with support of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, he founded the Worldwatch Institute, the first research institute devoted to the analysis of global environmental issues. In May 2001, he founded the Earth Policy Institute to provide a vision and a road map for achieving an environmentally sustainable economy. On June 30, 2015, he stepped down from the Earth Policy Institute and closed the Institute. Mr. Brown has authored or co-authored 54 books. His newest, The Great Transition, was published this year. This book (which he will describe), and his powerful advocacy are directly relevant to the forthcoming Paris meetings on climate change in December.  This event costs $15. Development Dialogue at DACOR, co-hosted by DACOR & UAA.
