Latvia is among the fastest growing economies in the European Union at 4.5% in 2017, and is an export-based, open Eurozone economy. Part of the OECD, the country continues to rapidly modernize its education and healthcare, and continues to improve the overall investment climate. Today, Latvian-U.S. relations remain strong. The U.S.-Baltic Summit at the White House on April 3rd reinforced the close strategic partnership, unwavering ironclad commitment to common NATO security, and support for growing business and people-to-people ties. His Excellency Mr. Andris Teikmanis has been Latvian Ambassador to the U.S. since September 2016. Before the post in the U.S., he served as Ambassador to the UK and Northern Ireland, and Non-resident Ambassador to the Commonwealth of Australia and New Zealand.
