End Date/Time:

Description:

Mr. Daniel J. Miller is the Director of the Office of Economic Development and Governance at USAID in the Philippines. He has also served in Nepal, Afghanistan, India, Papua New Guinea and Mongolia, and has published numerous books about his experiences with nomads in the Himalaya and Tibetan Plateau and Mongolia. In 2009, Peace Corps Writers selected his coffee-table book of black and white photographs, Dropka: Nomads of the Tibetan Plateau and Himalaya as the Best Photography Book of the Year by a Returned Peace Corps volunteer. Mr. Miller will describe how he got into publishing, sharing his award-winning photos and describe his experiences with Tibetan and Mongolian nomads and American cowboys. This event is a must for amateur photographers who aspire to publish their work as well as those interested in the lives of rapidly disappearing Asian nomads challenged by climate change and international politics. This event costs $5. Development Dialogue at DACOR, co-hosted by UAA&DACOR
