End Date/Time:

Description:

Bridge the perceived divide of time and understanding and Shakespeare is among our most compelling modern playwrights. Working with creative stage directors, designers and actors - alongside the immense resource offered by the Folger Shakespeare Library - the extraordinary plays of William Shakespeare inspire today's audiences. They inspire understanding of our world and his, as well as inspire new art that contributes in important ways to what it means "to be." Depths of meaning in Shakespeare's language and in the plays of others of the period can be sounded again and again. Ms. Janet Alexander Griffin, Artistic Producer of Folger Theatre, will talk about this exciting work, what goes on in developing  a Shakespeare production, and the special treat of seeing plays in the Folger's historic theater, the first recreation of an Elizabethan playhouse in North America. Ms. Griffin directs all of the Folger Shakespeare Library's Public Programs. This event costs $25 and includes lunch.
