Dr. Benjamin Gedan will address the origin of Venezuela's economic challenges and political impasse, and describe the U.S. policy response with a focus on the bilateral relationship, changing regional dynamics, and the role of multilateral institutions, including the Organization of American States. Dr. Gedan is the director for Venezuela and the Southern Cone on the National Security Council at the White House. He previously served as the desk officer for Honduras and Argentina at the U.S. Department of State, and as the international economist at the U.S. Department of the Treasury responsible for Central America and the Caribbean.
