Mr. Alex Thier, the founder and CEO of Triple Helix, will discuss the future directions of U.S. development policy. Mr. Thier managed operations for USAID's two largest missions, Afghanistan and Pakistan, from 2010 - 2013. From 2013 - 2015, he served as USAID's Chief of Policy, Planning and Learning. There, he drove the transformation of USAID's policy, strategic planning, program design, evaluation and learning efforts. He also played a leadership role in the creation of several major U.S. international initiatives, including the Sustainable Development Investment Partnership, the Addis Tax Initiative, the Tokyo Mutual Accountability Framework for Afghanistan, the U.S. Global Development Lab, Power Africa, the Almaty Consensus on regional economic integration in South and Central Asia, the Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation, and the first ever U.S.-China agreement on global development cooperation.
