Foreign Service Journal

Published continuously since 1924, the Foreign Service Journal was founded as The American Foreign Service Journal when the disparate consular and diplomatic services of the U.S. government were combined under the Rogers Act as one administrative unit — the U.S. Foreign Service. At that time, the American Consular Association reconstituted itself as the American Foreign Service Association.

The Journal, including the AFSA News section, is published monthly (July/August issues combined). Each issue covers foreign affairs from an insider's perspective, providing thoughtful articles on international issues, the practice of diplomacy and the U.S. Foreign Service.

The new, improved digital version of the Foreign Service Journal makes its content more available — to overseas members and the general public — in a format that's easier to find, read, search and share.
