AFSA Sponsored Group Insurance Programs provide coverage specifically designed to meet your needs. Each of these plans has significant features that set it apart from the competition. Why? Because they are custom designed for the special needs of the Foreign Service.
You must have your AFSA member number available to enroll in our insurance plans.
Covers:
- Wrongful acts, errors or omissions committed or arising within the scope of your service as an employee of the
United States Government, such as: bodily injury, property damage, discrimination, and harassment;
- Acts prior to policy inception, from first day of service in the federal government, as long as you had no
knowledge of any claim or action which might result in a claim or action;
- Counsel and cost of defense and monetary penalties arising out of any disciplinary proceeding, for any act,
error or omission in professional services rendered;
- All related defense costs in addition to your coverage limits.
Coverage extends after expiration of policy for a full three years for acts committed or alleged to have been committed
prior to expiration. Depending on your position in the State Dept., up to 50% of the premiums may be
reimbursed. (Click here for State Department regulations on reimbursement, and here for USAID regulations.)
