Overview The American Foreign Service Association (AFSA) is offering a Retiree Affairs Internship to students with an interest in the legislative process and international relations, research, and publications. AFSA is the professional organization and the recognized bargaining agent for the 26,000 active and retired Foreign Service professionals of the U.S. Duties Major duties include following legislative developments in retiree benefits and issues, communicating with retirees through newsletters, email, correspondence, and AFSA News, and assisting with outreach. Requirements The ideal candidate will have strong analytical, writing, and communication skills, and a general understanding of the legislative process. Good computer skills, experience with newsletter production, and interpersonal skills are also required. In addition, a candidate will be asked to work 16 hours a week, including either Monday or Tuesday.
