The Communications, Marketing and Outreach department oversees all of AFSA's public events, educational programs, student outreach, and awards and honors. They stand ready to assist you at any time with any questions you may have. The Communications, Marketing and Outreach intern works with all the members of this department.
Director of New Media Ásgeir Sigfússon (202-944-5508, sigfusson@afsa.org) is responsible for all issues having to to with AFSA's web site, social media (Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube), Road Scholar programs, corporate relations, fundraising, the TLG minority internship program, CFC participation, the Fund for American Diplomacy, AFSA speaker series and book events, and the ambassador project.
Coordinator for Special Awards and Outreach Perri Green (202-719-9700, green@afsa.org) is in charge of the AFSA awards program, which includes constructive dissent awards, exemplary performance awards, Sinclaire language awards, the Kennan writing award, and the award for Lifetime Contributions to American Diplomacy. Perri also oversees the memorial plaque program as well as the national high school essay contest.
AFSA News Editor Donna Ayerst (202-577-3611, ayerst@afsa.org) oversees the writing, editing and production of the AFSA News section of the Foreign Service Journal. This section includes the annual Tax Guide and Annual Report issues.
Speakers Bureau Director Tom Switzer (202-944-5501, switzer@afsa.org) oversees AFSA's speaker bureau, which places expert speakers on foreign affairs issues all over the country.
Web and Graphics Assistant Jeff Lau (lau@afsa.org) is responsible for the overall maintenance and look of the AFSA web site, and handles daily updates, graphic elements, and basic IT infrastructure issues at AFSA.
