| FEHB 2006 Open Season | |||||||||||
| The 2006 FEHB Open Season for annuitants will run from November 14 through December 31,
2005. If you are satisfied with your current coverage and wish to continue it in 2006 and your plan remains
in the FEHB program, you do not need to take any action. If you wish to change your coverage from one plan
or option to another, for example from "self only" to "self and family," submit a
completed SF-2809 to the Office of Retirement at Department of State, Office of Retirement (HR/RET), Room
H-620, SA-1, Washington, DC 20522-0108 by December 31, 2005.
If you are enrolled in a plan that is withdrawing from the FEHB program or is reducing its service area, you must select another health plan by filing a completed SF-2809, "Health Benefits Election Form" http://www.opm.gov/forms/pdf_fill/sf2809.pdf in order to continue participating in the FEHB program. The department is sending an SF-2809 to all annuitants whose plans have been terminated. If you are enrolled in a terminated plan and you fail to enroll in another FEHB plan during open season, your FEHB coverage will be cancelled and you will not be able to reenroll. The Office of Retirement does not distribute Open Season Guides or individual plan brochures to Foreign Service annuitants. These guides and plan brochures, which are available at http://www.opm.gov/insure/06/index.asp and www.opm.gov/insure/health/brochures/index.asp, provide instructions about changing enrollment, summarize and compare the benefits of all of the FEHB plans and explain the adjustment in premiums. The rate changes for 2006 become effective January 1, 2006. |
