FOREIGN SERVICE RETIREE HOME EXCHANGE PROGRAM

About the Program

The Foreign Service Retiree Home Exchange Program (FSRHEP) was privately established in 1996 to enable Foreign Service retirees, spouses, widows and widowers, who are members of AFSA, DACOR, USIAAA or retired foreign diplomat associations (RFDA), to enjoy travel experiences in the United States and around the world at reasonable cost.

FSRHEP encompasses four categories:

1. HOME EXCHANGE --Two parties negotiate directly the exchange of their homes.
2. HOME VISITING -- Owners provide a guestroom and bathroom for a reasonably short, specific time to be arranged directly by the parties.
3. REASONABLE RENTAL -- Parties agree on a modest rent, with the benefit that it is economical and that the owner is dealing with retired diplomats.
4. HOME SITTING -- Owners list their home as available for house sitting for specific time period(s).

All communications will take place between the parties involved, including references, exchange of photographs, etc., if parties so desire. Any concern about damage liability and/or exchange of cars should be checked with your insurance carrier.

The listees are not committed to any exchange, visit or rental simply because their properties are listed in the Directory. Listees should acknowledge each request they receive in a reasonable time.

Members of FSRHEP may access all listings and may post one or more listings of their own in the Directory. In order to join FSRHEP, please check the Agreement below, submit the application form electronically, and send a one-time payment of $25 to Yvonne Thayer, 3308 Idaho Avenue NW, Washington, D.C.
