For more information, please go to: http://www.afsa.org/scholar. 2010/11 AFSA Need-Based Financial Aid Scholarship Application Timeline 1. --- By 2/6/10, students submit their AFSA 2010/2011 Financial Aid Scholarship Application to be considered for aid for the 2010/11 school year. Students also submit a copy of their high school/college transcripts and students/their parents complete the CSS PROFILE by this date too. 2. --- By 4/15/10, students/parents receive a letter/e-mail from AFSA notifying them of the student’s AFSA Financial Aid Application status and if they have met all application criteria. If students are either eligible to be consider for an AFSA need-based Financial Aid Scholarship and continue in the process, AFSA sends along more paperwork to complete. If the student does not meet all application criteria, his/her application is terminated at this time. 3. --- By 5/26/10, students submit the additional paperwork referenced in Step 2. 4. --- By 7/12/10, AFSA has proposed the AFSA Financial Aid Scholarship amount to each student’s college and the schools have replied back to AFSA regarding the proposed award and/or their financial aid/outside scholarship policy. 5. --- By 7/22/10, students are notified of the amount and name(s) of their AFSA Scholarship(s). 6. --- By 8/12/10, AFSA sends the first of two award checks to the student’s college for half the AFSA Scholarship to be applied toward the student’s fall 2010 semester expenses. 7. --- By 9/30/10, students submit a thank-you letter(s) to their scholarship donor(s). 8. --- By 11/15/10, the 2011/2012 AFSA Financial Aid Scholarship Applications are available at http://www.afsa.org/scholar to complete. The submission deadline is 2/6/11. 9. --- By 12/16/10, AFSA sends the second of two award checks to the student’s college for the remaining half of the AFSA Scholarship to be applied toward the student’s 2011 spring semester expenses. 10. -- By 2/6/11, the process starts all over again and students submit their AFSA 2011/2012 Financial Aid Scholarship Application, transcript and CSS PROFILE.
