Job Bank

U.S. Government and private sector employers are invited to use the AFSA skills database to find Foreign Service retirees available for jobs in a wide variety of areas. Each entry includes the member's foreign assignments, language skills and job experience. It also includes an e-mail address and phone number which potential employers may use to obtain additional information on the member's background and availability. To contact a member with an unavailable (incorrect or invalid) e-mail and phone number please contact retirees@afsa.org.

Speakers Bureau

Organizations and groups desiring speakers on foreign affairs may search the database to find Foreign Service retirees available to speak throughout the U.S. on desired geographic and policy topics. Speakers are also glad to talk about American diplomacy and life in the Foreign Service. There is no charge for AFSA speakers. Host groups are encouraged to assist with travel and accommodations, where possible. They may make arrangements directly with the speaker or send requests to switzer@afsa.org.

College and University Teaching

Database provides qualified Foreign Service retirees who can serve as visiting lecturers. The AFSA "Diplomat on Campus" program calls for visits of 1-5 days during which subject experts can lecture in classes, speak at a public assembly, and counsel students on international relations studies and future careers. Lecturers receive a small honorarium. For information contact switzer@afsa.org.
