Here is your update from USAID Vice President Francisco Zamora. Please send any comments and questions to <fzamora@usaid.gov>.
1. Latest Vanguard is Out: The August edition of our Vanguard newsletter is now available. You can read the Vanguard by clicking on this link: http://www.afsa.org/usaid/0808vanguard.pdf.
2. Promotion and Tenure Lists: We were happy to see a timely release of the promotion and tenure lists for this year. You can see a full listing of names for each category in the Vanguard. Now let’s the hope the promotions – and related pay increases – come into effect without any undue delays.
3. Report Cards: We have been hearing of some possible technical glitches with the electronic report cards, specifically the comments section. If you are experiencing this problem and have not been able to get it resolved to your satisfaction, please let us know.
4. Pay Equity : The cover subject of the last edition of the Vanguard is always worthy of an update. There have been some developments in the halls of Congress on this issue. If you have not done so yet, we urge you to read AFSA President John Naland’s July 18 message on this, which you can view here: http://www.afsa.org/071808presupdate.cfm.
5. New Journal: The July/August edition of the Foreign Service Journal has been published, with a focus on the war in Afghanistan. If you are not receiving your hard copy of the Journal, please make sure we have your correct address (http://www.afsa.org/comment.cfm.) The Journal is also available online to AFSA members at http://www.fsjournal.org/.
6. Whereabouts : We are always pleased to welcome visitors at the AFSA suite in RRB 2.10-C. I am available at fzamora@usaid.gov or 202-712-1631.
