Description:

AFSA is pleased to present “Reviewing Your Retirement Plan,” our first webinar of 2021 in the Federal Benefits Speaker Series, on Wednesday, January 27 from 12:00 to 1:15 pm EST.  AFSA’s Vice President for Retirees John Naland, a former director of State's Office of Retirement, will walk you through the topics. Whether you have been retired for a few months or many years, it’s worthwhile to assess whether you need to make any course corrections in your retirement planning. Note that this event is geared towards current retirees. Another event focused on active-duty members will be offered shortly.

Topics include but are not limited to reviewing and updating your annuity records, keeping beneficiary designations updated, what your survivor(s)  need to know, how to best review your Thrift Savings Plan allocations and estate plan, when to launch Social Security, reemployment rules, and other germane issues.  There will be time to ask a limited number of questions of general interest to the audience.

Please click here to register for the webinar, which is offered on the Zoom platform.  You will receive an email reminder before the event that will include a link to the Zoom and also to an AFSA document entitled “Reviewing Your Retirement Plan.” This document also is available in AFSA’s 2021 Directory of Retired Members on page 17. It will be useful to have it on hand to follow the progression of the presentation.

Please note that AFSA records and posts presentations about one week after the event, so if you are unable to participate live, you will have access to the presentation later.

We look forward to seeing you virtually!
