Joining her are Elizabeth Shelton, a former Foreign Service officer and executive director of American Friends of Turkey; and Molly Williamson, former deputy assistant secretary of Defense (1993-1995), State (1996-1999) and Commerce (1999-2004). AFSA/KIMGREENPLATE Management Committee: By unanimous consent, the Governing Board approved an individual request to join AFSA as an associate member. New Business: It was moved and seconded that the board approve an extension of the Governance Committee’s mandate to November. The motion was adopted. The mandate refers to the following motion adopted at the May 2018 meeting: “On behalf of the Management Committee, it was moved that the board appoint a Governance Commit- tee to research and propose a best practice governance structure for AFSA. The committee will provide monthly updates to the Governing Board and report its final rec- ommendation to the board by Oct. 17, 2018. The chairman will be Secretary Tom Boyatt, and the members will be Vice Presidents Ken Kero-Mentz and Dan Crocker, Chief Operating Officer Russ Capps, Retiree Representative Director Alphonse La Porta and Roy Perrin. n AFSAGoverning Board Meeting, October 17, 2018
