Drake (www. drake.edu/) is a medium-sized, private university preparing students to become global citizens. Ideal candidates have experience in diplo- macy and international affairs with a foreign ministry (U.S. Depart- ment of State), an international organization (United Nations) and/or international nongovernmental organization. The committee will also consider diplomats from other countries and those with international organization or international nongovernmental organization experi- ence. Candidates with advanced degrees and prior teaching experience preferred. Starting date is January 2015, with initial appointment of one to three academic semesters, based on availability of the candidate, and possibility of extension. With an 80-percent FT, benefits-eligible appointment, a DIR is in a department appropriate to the individual’s interests, background and teaching areas. Duties include teaching, mentoring and advising stu- dents; giving public lectures on campus and in the community; assisting with implementation of an annual undergraduate conference on global affairs; and providing advice on internationalization. Specifics will depend on individual interests and experience.
