End Date/Time:

Description:

America, its allies and its partners face a dynamic threat environment. Nimble adversaries have seized the initiative and are shaping an order, often in concert with one another, that threatens vital U.S. interests. Russia, Iran and a global jihadist movement are among the actors that have fueled - and exploited the effects of - an assault on the international system. The U.S. must address immediate global crises but also look beyond them to develop long-term strategies that advance the nation's security, prosperity, and liberty. Dr. Kimberly Kagan is the founder and president of the Institute for the Study of War. She is a military historian who has taught at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Yale, Georgetown, and American University. She is the author of the The Eye of Command and The Surge: A Military History. She served in Kabul working for commanders of the International Security Assistance Force. She also participated in General Stan McChrystal's  initial strategic assessment team in Afghanistan and in formal strategic reviews for General Ray Odiernowhile he commanded U.S. forces in Iraq. This event costs $25 and includes lunch.
