Summary of Programs

The American Foreign Service Association (AFSA) Scholarship Fund offers need-based, undergraduate Financial Aid Scholarships for college undergraduates and Merit Awards and a Community Service Award for high school seniors that are open to children of AFSA members who are or were U.S. Government Foreign Service employees. Applications are available on November 15, and the submission deadline for the Academic and Art Merit Awards are February 6. The Financial Aid Scholarships applications are due on March 6.

Academic Merit

- Thirteen (13) $2,500 awards

- Three (3) $1,000 honorable mention awards

- One (1) $500 best essay award

- One (1) $2,500 community service award

Art Merit

- One (1) $2,500 award

- Up to three (3) $1,000 honorable mention awards

Financial Aid

Approximately 55 need-based scholarships ranging from $3,000-$5,000
