UNA-NCA: The UN, International Election Observation, and Global Support for Democratic Elections

On Wednesday, February 28th, 2018 the UN Association of the National Capital Area (UNA-NCA) and its Human Rights Committee will host Doug Wake, former First Deputy Director of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE/ODIHR) to moderate a panel discussion on the topic of election observation activities.

The event titled The UN, International Election Observation, and Global Support for Democratic Elections, will focus on the vital efforts of international organizations such as the UN, in supporting democratic elections through technical assistance and international observation missions. The speakers include:

  • Hassan Kelleh Sesay, Electoral Assistance Division - Department of Political Affairs, United Nations Headquarters

The event will be held at the American Foreign Service Association at 2101 E St NW, Washington, DC, 20004. Registration is free for UNA-NCA and AFSA members and $5 for non-members.
