The event is co-sponsored by the American Academy of Diplomacy and the World Affairs Council – Washington, D.C. Ambassador Marc Grossman will moderate the discussion.

Secretary Powell said at the U.S. Diplomacy Center Groundbreaking Ceremony on September 3, through diplomacy, we do everything we can to prevent wars, to help bring conflict to an end, and to rebuild the societies and economies of our former enemies. We execute treaties and help get them ratified to reduce armed conflicts and bring peace to different parts of the world.

“Secretary Powell’s remarks on the complex conflict issues facing today’s world will be immensely informative to the Council’s mission of engaging Americans through global education,” said Edie Fraser, Chairperson of the World Affairs Council – Washington, D.C.

“Secretary Powell's discussion will be an excellent blending of the Academy's mission of strengthening American understanding of the importance of diplomacy and the World Affairs Council – Washington, D.C.’s mission of expanding American understanding of international events,” emphasized former Undersecretary of State Marc Grossman, Vice Chairman of the American Academy of Diplomacy.
