2015-16 FEEA Scholarships - Deadline March 27

Students still have four more weeks to apply for the 2015-16 FEEA scholarship program and our various partner programs. The online application must be completed and all supporting documentation mailed before the March 27, 2015 deadline. Here are a few tips for sending in the best possible application package:

• We hope it goes without saying that the student applying for the scholarship should ALWAYS be the one to write the essay -- never the parent or sponsor. Essays should be the student's original work and generally require both research and creative thinking. FEEA's selection committees look for thoughtful, well-written work and evaluate both content (does it answer the question? does it contain a mix of verifiable facts and opinions?) and composition (is it written with proper grammar? without spelling mistakes? appropriate punctuation and paragraphs?).
• Be sure your list of awards, extracurriculars, and community service includes a brief description of the activity, as well as the year(s) you participated and the amount of time spent on the activity (ex. 10hrs/month for 6months/yr or 1hr/week for 26 weeks, etc.). Our committees look for consistency and commitment and require enough information to evaluate your participation. View a sample format for presenting your list.
• Make sure your recommendation letter is relatively recent. High school seniors submitting a college recommendation from their counselor is a-ok; college juniors recycling that same letter is not.
